Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Vanemar Gateway and its core functions?

The Vanemar Gateway is the central hub for the Vanemar ecosystem, equipped with an internal GPS receiver for constant location tracking, wireless communication technologies to interface with Vanemar Sensors, and a built-in rechargeable battery for uninterrupted operation.

How does the Vanemar Gateway maintain connectivity?

The Gateway is equipped with a GSM module that works with over 500 operators in 200 countries, providing extensive coverage. It ensures that wherever you are, as long as there's GSM service, your Gateway stays connected.

What occurs when the Vanemar Gateway is outside GSM coverage?

If the Gateway exits the GSM coverage area, it switches to offline mode but continues to record all data. You'll be notified of this status change via the app. In offline mode, you can still access the Gateway through Bluetooth if nearby. Once it reconnects to GSM, it will update the app with all the recorded data, ensuring you don’t miss any critical information.

Can the Vanemar Gateway monitor my boat’s battery status?

Yes, the Gateway continuously measures the connected battery’s voltage and will send low battery alerts, ensuring you’re always informed about your power supply.

What happens if my boat's power supply is interrupted?

The Gateway has its own backup battery that can keep it operational for up to 8 hours after a power cut, instantly alerting you of the power loss.

Does the Gateway have any protective features against tampering?

Yes, it has an innovative anti-tamper system on the back, which continuously measures the distance from its mounting point and will trigger an alarm if interference is detected.

How many sensors can connect to the Gateway?"

You can connect up to 20 wireless sensors directly to the Gateway for various monitoring purposes. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of devices that can be connected through the Vanemar NMEA2000 Adapter, providing extensive data collection capabilities for your maritime needs.

Can the Vanemar Gateway access data from existing devices on my boat like engines, tanks, etc?

Certainly, the Gateway, using the Vanemar NMEA2000 Adapter, can access data from your boat's existing NMEA2000 network. It can display a variety of information such as engine performance metrics, tank levels, and environmental conditions. For detailed guidance on NMEA2000 network setup and the types of data you can view, visit our blog: What is NMEA2000 and How to Tell If Your Boat Has It.

What actions does the Vanemar Gateway take in alarm situations?

When the Gateway detects critical situations like high water levels or unauthorized access, it sends instant notifications through the app. It intelligently monitors whether these alerts are seen. If they remain unnoticed for 60 seconds, the system automatically initiates a phone call from our servers to ensure you're informed about the urgent situation on your boat.
